The
Comets entered the 2007 season with 13 teams(9 “A”
teams,4 B teams), hoping the summer would be filled with good times, great
basketball, and national exposure. The
Comets far exceeded expectations finishing the season qualifying 8 “A” teams to
Division 1 Nationals and all 4 B teams to Division 2 Nationals. The Comets had the most teams (3 – 12s, 15s
and 16s) teams
playing on Championship Sunday, with our 15s and 16s winning Middle Atlantic
Championships. Considering that the Mid
Atlantic is one of the premier region in the country
this fete is beyond impressive. Both
teams continued to compete for National Championships, finishing 17th
and 4th this year. College
coaches came out in huge numbers to watch our older teams, proving once again
that the Comets have a national recruiting reputation. With 9 Comets from class of 2008 heading off to Division 1 programs next fall,
the Comets alumni currently on college rosters now stands at over 30! This is a tribute to the many coaches who
continue to volunteer their time to develop our players and the players for
working to improve their game throughout the year. We thank our parents for the time they spend
helping to raise money, making sure the girls are at practices and tournaments,
and showing great sportsmanship on the sidelines. And to our players – we are very proud of the
effort you put forth again each year, showing great teamwork and a never ending
competitive spirit. With hard work and
determination the Comets will continue to excel at a local and national level
Once
again a huge thank you to all the coaches for their time and effort put forth
for the Comets. We would not be able to
continue to thrive at the highest level without their time and dedication.
